Morgan version 0.2 is out!


Ending strong

As I near the end of my university term I have knuckled down on what the final build of Morgan will look like. Morgan [BETA] V0.2 is the final version of my FMP.

I wanted this version to include many of the face value features such as:

  • Tutorial
  • The main menu
  • A lobby of sorts
  • Polished sprites for many of the assets
  • The first integration of sound

With all these features now in the build Morgan look much more like a finished project!

Of course, we're not entirely done yet!

Moving forward

Morgan is still a very important project to me and I'm looking forward to working on it, past its life as a Final Major Project.

Since Morgan is rogue-like I want the game to have that structure. This means multiple floors with many bosses, items, environments etc...

The next update for Morgan should mostly feature many back end changes that will enable it for easier development in the future. I have many lessons I've learned over its development and I want to take this time now to implement many of those lessons.

However!

Now that I have more time on my hands I will certainly devote a chunk of it to getting Morgan (The player character) his own set of animations to make the game feel more alive. The same will be said for the enemies and especially our poor neglected boss who should hopefully come with some A.I next time (I wanted him to have A.I for the V0.2 but deadlines & complications pushed the feature back)
